Hello,
My name is Paul Lamontagne. I am the owner of
Champlain Photo and Vermont Sports Images.
Below are
my credentials as a photographer and why I feel I'm qualified to shoot your
wedding, portrait or sporting event.
I have worked in the photo business since 1984. I
started by working at the first "one hour" photo lab in the Burlington
area, went on to own my own photo lab (Champlain Photo in front of the
Windjammer on Williston Road) and transitioned into being a full time
photographer. I currently have my photo studio located in Colchester Village (Studio
Directions )
In 2002 I started an online high school sports photo web site called Vermont
Sports Images.com.
On that web site I shoot thousands of photos of local athletes and post them for
students and parent to enjoy. I feel that my constant interaction with high
school athletes helps when it's senior portrait time.
Over the past 20 years along with owning the photo lab I have pursued sports/journalism photography as well as wedding photography. I have spent time working on the sidelines of NFL and Major League Baseball and I currently work for several newspapers including The St Albans Messenger, Colchester Sun, Essex Reporter, The "Other Paper", The Shelburne News, and the Milton Independent. My photos have appeared in these newspapers as well as the Burlington Free Press, The Addison Independent, Bennington Banner, and Brattleboro Reformer. I also helped launch a new magazine geared towards high school athletics called Varsity Magazine. My photos are featured prominently inside as well as on the cover. My sports photos have also appeared on ESPN.com
I have photographed over 300 weddings during the the last 20 years and I continue to enjoy it. Being a sports photographer at heart I have always felt the same energy at a wedding as I do at a big sporting event. I feel like my sports photo background has given me a knack for capturing key moments that happen during a wedding. I also feel that wedding photography has received a big boost with the latest advances in digital photography. The flexibility and security of digital photography is ideal for capturing a wedding and at Champlain photo I strive to take full advantage of that. I also feel that I have evolved as a wedding photographer and at this point in my career I feel that I bring a very experienced, creative and artistic approach to make your wedding photos something special and unique.
I consider myself a no nonsense person and I try my best to eliminate some of the usual gimmicks and hassles associated with studio and wedding photography. I won't force you to buy packages that you don't want and I won't keep ownership of your negatives just so I can charge you outrageous prices when you want reprints. My goal is to bring you high quality professional portraits and wedding photos at an affordable price. I consider myself flexible and do not have a big ego which means I am always open to new ideas. If you have ideas that you think will help make your wedding or studio photos better then I'm more than willing to listen. My goal is to work with you so that in the end you have photos that match your expectations.
Thanks for your time and I look forward to working with you in the future.
